External learners and certifications
Learners from outside of the customer organization, such as partners, third-party workers, and other non-employee groups, can use the certifications features within the application.

External learners can earn certifications. They can take pre-tests and post-tests that are associated with certification activities. Notifications are available for a variety of situations Mass actions are available to learning administrators and to external learning administrators.
Process flows
Learning administrators use process flows to approve the activities, sessions, and certifications. When an external learner requests an activity, session, or certification, the request is available in the learning administrators in-basket. The learning administrator can approve or reject the request and can enroll an external learner in the activity from the inbasket. When the learning administrator takes any action, the external learner receives a notification email.
External learner view
External learners access information about certifications and perform actions from the various areas of the application:
- External learners can view assigned, available and past certifications on the Certifications tab of the development profile.
- External learners can enroll in certifications from the catalog.
Mass actions
Mass actions that are related to external learner certifications are available:
- Mark Activities as Failed to Complete
- Mass Expire Certifications
- Mass Reject Expired Approval Requests for Certifications
- Mark Certifications as Failed to Complete
External learning administrators
A role within the application is available to organizations that benefit from segmenting administration tasks for external learners. This role can access information that is limited to external learner management, including activities, sessions, and certifications.
