COBRA start dates

All benefit records have a start date to signify when an individual's benefit begins. This date becomes the effective date for the deductions that are created by the enrollment. You can specify the date at the time you enroll individuals into benefit plans.

If the individual’s benefit is created through an enrollment event, the start date is calculated using the Loss of Coverage date plus one day. When the individual's benefit is created, the COBRA Open Enrollment start date is the Enrollment Date for that Event.

The start date can never occur before the individual is eligible for the benefit. It can start anytime after the individual is eligible.
