Requesting a leave of absence

Administrators can request a leave of absence on behalf of a resource. When the administrator initiates the request, the requested leave is visible only to the resource and to the Absence administrator. If the manager or the Absence Administrator initiated the request, the requested leave is visible to the manager, the resource, and the Absence administrator.

When the leave is in Requested status, the manager or resource who can see the request can update the leave or cancel it. The Absence administrator can reject or cancel it. Canceled and rejected leaves are not displayed on the initiator's view. The administrator can still view the leaves, update them, and change their status back to Requested or Approved.

  1. Select Absence Management > Maintain Absences > Absences by Resource > Leave of Absence > Create
    or

    select Absence Management > Maintain Absences > Leaves of Absence > Create.

  2. Specify this information:
    Type
    Select the type of leave.
    Requester
    Select the person on whose behalf you are creating the leave record. If you select blank or resource and the Status is Requested, the manager cannot see the leave until you approve it. If you select Manager, then both the resource and manager can see the leave.
    Request Date
    This is the date that the leave is requested.
    Beginning of Leave
    Specify the date the leave begins.
    Estimated Return
    Specify the estimated return to work date.
    Reason
    Select the reason for the request.
    Intermittent
    Select whether this is an intermittent leave of absence. If it is intermittent, the leave is based on hours tracked. If it is not intermittent, the length of leave is determined by the dates.
    Reason Class

    If this is an intermittent leave, select a reason class. The reason class is used to identify the service records that are counted when determining the amount of leave taken.

    Additional Information
    You can add additional information about the leave.
    Leave Request Document
    Browse to attach a document related to the leave request. If you add a document after the request was approved, the status reverts to Requested and must be re-approved.
  3. Click OK.
