Defining maximum daily hours

The Maximum Daily Hours feature can be used to define a maximum number of hours by day for a group of resources. Use this maximum to provide a warning for time records and time off requests. A warning is displayed when the total number of hours for a day exceeds the maximum hours that you have defined.

Note: There is no option on the Absence Plan setup to apply this maximum. It must be done using this procedure.
  1. Select Absence Management > Setup > Maximum Hours By Day.
  2. Click New.
  3. Specify this information:
    Eligibility Group
Select the eligibility group. The eligibility group must contain a subject of HCMGroupMaximumHoursByDay.

For a rule to apply to a time off request, the resource's primary work assignment must qualify for the eligibility group that is on the maximum hours rule. A blank eligibility group is allowed. It is the default when a work assignment does not meet the criteria of any other eligibility group.

Note: You should define eligibility groups so that they are mutually exclusive. This is so that a work assignment does not qualify for more than one group. If the work assignment meets the criteria for multiple groups, the setting for the first group, found alphabetically, is used.
    Use For Time Entry
Select Yes to ensure that the total number of time entry hours per resource per day does not exceed the maximum number that is defined in the Hours field. A warning message is displayed and the user can bypass it.
    Use For Time Off Requests
Select Yes to ensure that the total number of time off hours requested per resource per day does not exceed the maximum number that is defined in the Hours field. A warning message is displayed and the user can choose to bypass it.
