Unlocking Global Objects

Unlocking an object effectively reverts it to the state it had before you checked it out.

Note: You can unlock objects that you have previously checked out and objects that others have checked out. Other developers can also unlock objects that you have checked out.

To unlock a global object:

  1. Open the Form Control form.
  2. In the Actions group box, select Unlock.
  3. Select the My Checked Out Objects tab.
  4. In the Display/select my checked out objects group box, click Display List.

The system displays a list of all the objects and forms you have checked out. For each object, this information is shown:

    • The type of object
    • The name of the object
    • The value, if any, that the object has in the master database
    • The value, if any, that the object has in the run-time database
Note:  This list does not indicate what templates, if any, you have checked out. Forms and global objects that you have created are displayed in this list only if you selected Enforce strict locking of forms and objects in the User Preferences, and you select Include Newly Created on this tab.
  5. Perform one of these actions:
    • To unlock all objects you have checked out, click Select All.
    • To unlock only selected objects, in the Inc column, select the check box for each object you want to unlock.
  6. Click Execute Action.
  7. When prompted, click OK.
If the objects that you want to unlock are checked out by another user, a warning message is displayed. Click Yes to continue, then click OK.
