Copying custom objects between databases

You can use FormSync's Copy utility to copy customized objects from the Source configuration to the Target configuration. This utility simply copies the object from one configuration to the other without attempting to merge or preserve any customizations in the Target configuration's object.

To copy objects:

  1. If you have not already done so, open the Configurations page and specify the Source or Target configuration for which you want to generate and save a list of custom objects.

The Source configuration must include a forms database that contains the custom objects that you want to copy to the Target forms database.

Note:  To copy form licenses, the Source configuration must include an Application database that contains license records for the copied forms. The Target configuration must include a different application database to which the records will be copied.
  2. Access the FormSync Utilities page:
    • In the form version, click Utilities on the main page.
    • In the stand-alone version, click the Utilities icon on the Toolbar.
  3. Select the Filter tab and use the Configuration field to verify that the Source and Target configurations are correct.
  4. Set filter criteria to retrieve the custom objects that you want to copy.
Alternatively, if you only want to select one form or object, select that form or object from the appropriate drop-down list.
  5. Click Refresh List.
  6. (Optional) In the Custom Objects grid, the Include check box for each custom object is selected by default. Clear the check box for any object that you do not want to copy.
  7. Select the Copy tab.
  8. To have FormSync:
    • Prompt you about replacing each form or object, select the Prompt on replace check box.
    • Replace custom objects automatically, without prompting you, clear the Prompt on replace check box.
  9. To copy any module license records associated with a form to the Target application database, select Copy form licensing.

This option affects new forms created by a user and licensed Vendor forms that a user has copied to another name.

  10. Click Copy.
