Generating SQL scripts for custom objects

To generate a SQL script for custom forms and objects:

  1. Launch FormSync (either the form or the stand-alone utility).
  2. If you have not already done so, open the Configurations page and specify the Source or Target configuration for which you want to generate and save a list of custom objects.
Note:  To script licenses for forms, the Source configuration must include an Application database that contains license records for the forms.
  3. Access the FormSync Utilities page:
    • In the form version, click Utilities on the main page.
    • In the stand-alone version, click the Utilities icon on the Toolbar.
  4. Set filter criteria to retrieve the custom objects that you want to list.
  5. Click Refresh List.
  6. In the Custom Objects grid, the Include check box is selected for each object by default. Clear the check box for any object that you do not want to script.
  7. Select the Script tab.
  8. (Form version of FormSync only) Specify whether you want to Save the output to a file on disk or View the output in a temporary display page.
  9. To include the names of custom objects in a list of comments at the head of the script, select the Include objects list in script header check box. To exclude the list, clear the check box.
  10. To generate a separate script for each object selected, select the Generate separate scripts per object check box. To generate a single script for all selected objects, clear the check box.
  11. For the Object file name and path, do one of the following:
Note: In the form version of FormSync, this field is labeled Filename.
    • Use the ellipsis (...) button to locate, select, and name the file and path.
    • Enter the path and file name manually, using standard Windows path formatting.
    • Accept the default file and path specification.
  12. To generate a script containing definitions of license records associated with new forms and copies of vendor-licensed forms, select the Script form license check box. To skip generation of a license script, clear this check box.
  13. If you selected Script form licensing, for the License file name and path, do one of the following:
Note: In the form version of FormSync, these options are labeled Script form license and Filename, respectively.
    • Use the ellipsis (...) button to locate, select, and name the file and path.
    • Enter the path and file name manually, using standard Windows path formatting.
    • Accept the default file and path specification.
  14. Click Generate.
  15. At the prompt, click Yes.

You can now export the SQL scripted customizations to your SQL Server forms database.

Note:  (Stand-alone version of FormSync only) To open and view the scripts from the Utilities dialog box, click the Open File  button to the right of the ellipsis button. FormSync uses whatever program (such as SQL Server) that you have set as the default program for SQL script (*.sql) files.
