About App Metadata Transport

App Metadata Transport allows you to export or import metadata for:

• IDOs
• Property classes
• Custom assemblies
• The Application Event System (AES)
• Replication documents, which include Business Object Documents (BODs), inbound cross references, and outbound cross references
• Critical numbers
• DataViews
• DataView actions
• DataSearch sources from an XML file to a target database
• Form extensions

The utility works by:

• Exporting the metadata from a source database to an XML file; or
• Importing the metadata from an XML file to a target database.

This utility can be run through any of these methods:

• Locate and double-click the AppMetadataTransport.exe file in the folder where the application is installed.
• Run the AppMetadataTransport.exe file from a command line.
• Use the App Metadata Transport form in the windows client or web client.
  Note: This form is created for instances where the App Metadata Transport stand-alone utility cannot be run due to security concerns.
