About the usage-tracking license

The "usage-tracking" only license module is fundamentally different from other Mongoose license modules. Instead of tracking user and session counts, this module causes your application to track usage of forms, IDOs, and other resources.

The license module that does this is named MGUsageTrackingOnly. When this module is included as part of your license, the system:

  • Bypasses session limit checks. This effectively allows you an unlimited number of active sessions.
  • Bypasses checks on user module assignments. This effectively allows you an unlimited number of user logins.
  • Preserves and recognizes security settings (that is, group and individual user authorizations).
  • Tracks usage of forms, IDOs, and other system resources for each user and session.

The collected data is stored in special tables that can be audited by means of SQL queries.

Among other things, this means that:

  • System administrators do not need to make User Modules assignments.
  • Under standard licensing, all modules assigned to the user are immediately consumed, regardless of which forms the user opens. If you apply the usage-tracking license, the License Modules Per User Connection form and the License Module Concurrent User Counts form only show the module after a user opens at least one form that belongs to that module.
  • Under usage-tracking, even though the actual number of sessions and license module usage are not explicitly enforced, the usage data logged under this license module is tracked and audited by Infor to ensure customer compliance with purchased licensing limits.
