Single-use and Multi-use RFID tags

Infor Factory Track supports both single-use and multi-use RFID tags. The type of RFID tag is specified on the packaging item.

Single-use RFID tags are used only once and are read-only. Single-use RFID tags are generated by LN at the time of creation or printing of tags. The RFID tags and their codes are created by the supplier in the format requested by the customer. During the Confirm Pick process at the supplier, the tag and the RFID code are created, the RFID code is written to the tag, and the tag is attached to the handling unit.

Multi-use tags can be used multiple times. Multi-use RFID tags are captured during the packing process in FT. These are attached to relatively expensive reusable handling units, such as pallets or large containers that are provided by the customer. The customer adds their ID to the RFID tag, attaches the tag to the empty container, and sends the empty container to the supplier. During the packing process, the supplier’s own container number is linked to the RFID tag.

To use RFID tags in Factory Track for a shipment, you must enable these options at the Warehouse, Business Partner and Packaging Items respectively in Infor LN:

  • RFID during Shipping Applicable in the Warehouse form
  • Radio Frequency Identification Applicable in the Ship-to Business Partner form
  • Single-use/Multi-use/Not Applicable in the Packaging Items form
Note: An application supports RFID while shipping only when the RFID during Shipping Applicable parameter enabled in LN.

When processing a Handing Unit in the Packing by Shipment, Sealing, Loading and Asset Tag transactions, the Asset Tag field can be enabled or disabled based on these tags selected in LN:

  • Single-use: This tag is used only once and is read-only
  • Multi-Use: This tag can be used multiple times
  • Not Applicable: Use the stand-alone Asset Tag transaction to add or update an Asset Tag to a Shipment Handling Unit.
Note: If this option is set as mandatory in Factory Track, then an Asset Tag must be scanned.
