Creating handling unit

Use this transaction to create a handling unit, such as a box for storing the inventory. Creating a handling unit for a container can help in tracking the contents and location of the container.

  1. Select Handling Unit > Create Handling Unit. The Create Handling Unit screen is displayed.
  2. Specify this information:
    Create Parent
    A parent handling unit for the new handling unit. Parent HU (Handling Unit) identifies the parent handling unit that contains one or more child handling units or items, enabling hierarchical tracking of inventory. Possible values:
    • Yes: Set to Yes to create a new parent handling unit.
    • No: Set to No to view the Parent HU field. Specify the existing parent handling unit.
    • Blank: You can create a handling unit without a parent.
    Item
    The item number associated with the handling unit.
    Whse
    The warehouse in which the handling unit is created.
    Qty
    The quantity of the item associated with the handling unit.
    Enter Serial/Lot?
    Set the Enter Serial/Lot to Yes to navigate to the Serial/Lot Entry screen.
    Note: You can enter or scan serial numbers or lot numbers for items during warehouse transactions.
  3. Click Next to create the handling unit with the specified details.
    Note: If the Enter Serial/Lot field is set to Yes, the Serial/Lot Entry screen is displayed. If Enter Serial/Lot is set to No a success message is displayed.
