Loading packages

  1. Select Icon Menu > Packing > Loading. The Loading form is displayed.
    Note: Alternatively, you can also use List Menu.
  2. Scan the handling unit of the package in the Handling Unit field.
    Note: If the Auto-Load check box is selected for the Loading transaction on the Transaction Set Maintenance form, and the handling unit is not yet shipped, the handling unit can be added after specifying the dock number.
  3. Specify or review this information:
    Shipment Number
    The shipment number associated with the handling unit.
    Dock Number
    The dock number associated with the shipment.
    Note: 
    • You can scan the dock number after scanning the shipment number only if the Auto-Load check box is selected for the Loading transaction on the Transaction Set Maintenance form. Else, the dock number can be specified after loading the shipment.
    • If a value is not specified for this field or different dock is specified between the packages of the same load, the load must be split. You can split the loads in Infor LN only if the Load packing parameter is selected.
    Handling Unit
    The handling unit of the package to be shipped.
    Note: 
    • A check is performed to validate whether the handling unit is linked to a shipment and the package with this handling unit has already been loaded. Based on the validation results, these actions are performed:
      • If the Handling Unit is not linked to the shipment, an error message is displayed.
      • If the Handling Unit is not linked to the shipment, an error message is displayed.
      • If the Handling Unit is valid and not yet loaded, the Handling Unit is loaded automatically without the intervention of the operator.
    • After the Handling Unit is loaded, the next action is based on whether additional Handling Units exist for the shipment:
      • If no Handling Units are available for the shipment, the values in all the fields are cleared you can scan a different shipment number to be loaded.
      • If Handling Units are available and Retain Dock check box is selected for the Loading transaction on the Transaction Set Maintenance form, the value in the Dock field is retained, and only the value in the Handling Unit field is cleared. You can scan the next handling unit that exists in the same dock.
      • If Handling Units are available and Retain Dock check box is cleared for the Loading transaction on the Transaction Set Maintenance form, the values in the Dock and Handling Unit fields are cleared, and the operator must scan the dock again.
    Load Number
    The load number associated with the shipment.
    Packaging Item
    The new packaging item for the package. The packaging item currently assigned with the package.
    Pre-Assigned Dock
    The dock to which the load is pre-assigned.
    Note: This field is displayed if pre-assigned docks is used in Infor LN.
    Load?
    Indicate if the package can be loaded.
    Dock
    The dock to which the package is loaded.
    Note: When this field is blank or different dock is specified between the packages of the same load, the load is to be split. You must enable Load packing parameter in Infor LN to split the loads.
    Unship?
    Indicates if the handling unit is not shipped and can be removed from the shipment process.
    Note: This field is displayed only if:
    • The Allow Handling Units to be Unshipped check box is selected for the Loading transaction in the Transaction Set Maintenance form.
    • The value in the Load? field is set to No for the specified handling unit.
    Unload?
    Indicate if the load can be unloaded.
    Note: This field is not available while loading a package.
    New Shipment?
    Indicate whether to generate a new shipment for the package.
    Note: This field is available when load is split.
    Reship?
    Indicates if a previously unshipped handling unit can be shipped again.
    Note: This field is displayed only if:
    • The Allow Handling Units to be Unshipped check box is selected for the Loading transaction in the Transaction Set Maintenance form.
    • The handling unit has previously been unshipped.
    Shipment Number
    The shipment to which the package is moved.
    Note: This field is available when load is split and new shipment is not generated.
  4. Click Process.
