Removing items from a container (Split Handling Unit)

When you take items out of a container, you can add them to another container or designate them as loose inventory.

Split Handling Unit is a transaction belonging to the Handling Unit Sub-Menu on the Warehouse Mobility icon based and list based menus.

On the Handling Unit Sub-Menu:

  1. Select Icon Menu > Handling Unit > Split Handling Unit. The Create Handling Unit form is displayed.
    Note: Alternatively, you can also use List Menu.
  2. , Specify the handling unit from which the items are removed in the Handling Unit field.
    Note:  You can specify handling units that include free inventory and does not include children.
  3. Specify the quantity to remove from the handling unit in the Qty field. .
  4. Select the value in the Add to Another HU? field to indicated if the removed items are to be added in another handling unit. , Possible values,
    • Yes: The existing handling unit is specified in the Add to Handling Unit field. Optionally, leave blank to create a new handling unit.
    • No, the items will become loose inventory.
    • Blank: create a new handling unit.
  5. Click Process. When the items are not serial-controlled, the items are assigned with a new handling unit or become loose inventory in Infor LN. If the items are serial-controlled, or needs to be assigned a lot number, the Serial/Lot Entry screen is displayed.
  6. Specify this information on the Serial/Lot Entry screen:
    Item number
    The item number and description of the item.
    Quantity remaining
    The quantity that is to be assigned with serial or lot numbers.
    Generate Serials?
    Indicates if the serial numbers are to be generated for the item. Possible values,
    • Yes: Indicates the new serial numbers must be created for the items.
    • No: Indicates the existing serial number is used.
    Note: This field is displayed when item is serial-controlled, able to generate serial numbers for the transaction and serial numbers are not scanned.
    All Serials?
    Indicate that all serial numbers for this item at the current stock point are used in the transaction.
    Note: 
    • You can select Yes to avoid scanning of serial numbers, individually.
    • This field is displayed if the item is serial-controlled and transaction is performed using all the items in a stock point.

    Lot Number
    The lot number to assigned with the item.
    Note: This field is available when the item is not serial-controlled and lot number is yet to be assigned. If the item is serial-controlled, the item lot number is displayed after scanning of the first serial number.
    Serial Number
    The serial number.
    Note:  This field is only displayed if the item is serial-controlled, the new serial numbers are not generated, and the All Serials? field is set to No.
    Quantity
    The quantity assigned with the specified lot number.
    Note: This field is available if the item is not serial-controlled and lot number is yet to be assigned.
  7. Click Process. Scan the additional serial numbers or lot numbers. The handling unit is created when all the serial and lot numbers are scanned Click X to view serial or lot numbers that are scanned. Clcik Y to reset and rescan all scanned serial or lot numbers.
