Single-use and Multi-use RFID tags

Infor Factory Track supports both single-use and multi-use RFID tags. The type of RFID tag is specified on the packaging item.

Single-use RFID tags are read-only and can be used once . Single-use RFID tags are generated by LN while creating or printing of tags. The supplier creates the RFID tags based on the format requested by the customer. During the Confirm Pick process the tag and the RFID code are created. The RFID code is written on the tag and the tag is attached to the handling unit.

Multi-use tags can be used multiple times. Multi-use RFID tags are captured during the packing process in FT. These are attached to relatively expensive reusable handling units, such as pallets or large containers that are provided by the customer. The customer ID is added to the RFID tag which is attached to the empty container, and the empty container is sent to the supplier. During the packing process, the supplier’s own container number is linked to the RFID tag.

To use RFID tags in Factory Track for a shipment, you must enable these options in Infor LN:

  • RFID during Shipping Applicable in the Warehouse form.
  • Radio Frequency Identification Applicable in the Ship-to Business Partner form.
  • Single-use/Multi-use/Not Applicable in the Packaging Items form.
Note: The application supports RFID while shipping, only if the RFID during Shipping Applicable parameter is enabled in Infor LN.

When processing a Handing Unit in the Packing by Shipment, Sealing, Loading and Asset Tag transactions, the Asset Tag field can be enabled or disabled based on these tags selected in Infor LN:

  • Single-use: Indicates the tag can be used only once and is read-only.
  • Multi-Use: Indicates the tag can be used multiple times.
  • Not Applicable: Indicates the use of stand-alone Asset Tag transaction to add or update an Asset Tag to a Shipment Handling Unit.
Note: If this option is set as mandatory in Factory Track, then an Asset Tag must be scanned.
