Generation of Shipping Paperwork
InterFormNG solution
Shipping enables suppliers to use InterFormNG to generate the required VDA 4939 shipping documents:
- The shipping documents are printed from InterFormNG as done for other printed documents after a shipment has been frozen in the ERP system, such as Infor LN. InterFormNG uses the VDA 4939 print template to generate the shipping documents.
- To enable this process, the Packing Slip Type
VDA4939 must be configured in the
Customers
code list. - As soon as the supplier has a valid document, the ASN can be triggered through EDI.
Use of AMES-T in on-premise environment
AMES-T (Advanced mobility engineering and services for transportation) is used to improve the procurement process in the Volkswagen Group.
AMES-T applies to all partners in the logistics procurement process such as suppliers, Volkswagen transporters, and recipient plants.
These are the main objectives of AMES-T:
- Optimize process data quality and transparency
- Stabilize the supply chain
- Reduce logistics cost
Original AMES-T support
In the AMES-T process the automotive supplier who ships to Volkswagen must
print the VDA 4939 transport documents. Additionally, the supplier must print the
EDI ASN (EDIFACT DESADV
). The Shipping area supports this process offering an
interface to the Volkswagen software, TSB Generator.
The AMES-T process takes place in these phases:
- The Shipping area hands over the data that are to be published in the ASN to the TSB Generator. The shipper is marked accordingly. The TSB Generator prints the VDA 4939 transport documents and verifies the data. The user can review the printout and adjust the (master) data of the shipment/shipper. A reprint of the corrected data is also feasible.
- As soon as the supplier has a valid transport document, that supplier can trigger the ASN through EDI.
