Creating a self-signed AS2, FTP, or HTTP certificate

  1. Select COMMUNICATION > Certificate Management .
  2. Click the AS2 Certificates, FTP Certificates, or HTTPS Certificates tab.
  3. In the Own Certificates with private key section, click Generate self signed certificate.
  4. Specify this information:
    Key algorithm
    This value is preset by the protocol. You cannot change this setting.
    Key Size
    Specify the size of the key to be generated. Specify 1024, 2048, or 4096.
    Signature Algorithm
    The signature algorithm is preset by the protocol. You cannot change this setting.
    Validity (Days)
    This field specifies how long the certificate that is to be created is valid.
    Note: This value is usually replaced by the CA.
    Address Information

    These fields display the address information that can become part of the certificate.

    • Hostname external/DNS/Common Name: Registered DNS name of the firewall or IP (CN).
      Note: IPs are not accepted by all OEMs.
    • Company Name/Organization Name (O)
    • Department Name/Organization Unit (OU)
    • State Name (ST)
    • Location (L)
    • Country coded (C)
    • Email (E)
    Sub. Alt. Name DNS

    This field shows the host name (Firewall) that is specified as Subject Alternative Name DNS. Some OEMs require this in the certificates. Usually this is the same entry as in the CN field.

  5. Click Generate Request.
