The Total and N.A. elements of custom business objects are always published. However, those elements cannot be changed and are not displayed in Business Modeling.
When business objects are not used, the N.A. element is a placeholder that stores data in a cube. In this case, the N.A. element is used as not applicable for an unused business object. When business objects are used but data cannot be assigned to all use cases, the N.A. element is a placeholder for unassigned data.
The Total element ensures that hierarchies are created for business objects in Financial Reporting for the data aggregation. The Unit of Measure business object is an exception because it is a flat list which has no hierarchy and no Total element.
