FAQ

This section provides answers to common questions about the C-suite dashboard.

What should I do if the strategy I need is not listed?

Strategies are defined in Business Modeling. To add a strategy, perform these steps:

  1. In Financial Reporting, open the Business Modeling module.
  2. Select Business Objects > Financial > Strategy/Objective.
  3. Click Add.
  4. In the Add Strategy/Objective dialog box, specify a unique ID and name for the strategy. Optionally, specify a translation of the name in one or more languages.
Note: Do not assign a parent. Strategies must be top-level elements.
  5. Save the business object and publish the model to OLAP.

After the publication, the strategy is displayed in the Strategy & Objective widget in C-suite.

How can I restore the Top & Bottom widget to its default view?

To restore the widget to its default view, start a new session. This automatically restores all widgets to their default states.

Optionally, perform these steps:

  1. To clear custom views, manually remove the chart sections 2 and 3.
  2. Go to chart section 1 and select the Analyze By function.
  3. Set the viewed dimension to Entity.

Why does the Analyze By function sometimes replace my zoomed-in dimension instead of adding to it in the Top & Bottom Analysis report?

When you use the Analyze By function, the current dimension in the data grid is replaced by a new dimension. The previous dimension is moved to the Filter panel with an active filter. If the dimension was zoomed in, the zoomed-in element becomes the filter.

Why are the difference columns empty for some metrics?

If the selected metric is a percentage, for example, Operating Profit Margin, the difference values are not displayed on purpose.

How can I view metrics for more than one entity ?

Currently, only a single selection is supported. You can view metrics for one entity, business unit, region, or other business object at a time.

Why am I not able to drill into the source system directly from the report?

The drill-back functionality is currently not available in the Metrics Overview report.

Are my filter changes remembered by the report?

Yes, filter changes are preserved when you navigate across reports. However, only key selections such as an objective, metric, and view mode are retained when you return to the dashboard.

Why does the dashboard load with a different objective than I expected?

When the C-Suite dashboard is loaded, the first strategy and the first objective associated with that strategy. The order of objectives in the Strategy & Objective widget is dynamic and based on performance trends. Objectives with the weakest performance are displayed first. Because performance data changes over time, the order may shift. This can result in a different objective that is preselected even if the strategy remains the same.

How can I compare metrics across fiscal years?

Currently, you can only compare metrics across months.

Can I set a specific objective as the default view?

Currently, customized views are not supported.

Why is the Waterfall chart not visible?

The Waterfall chart requires sufficient historical data. If the comparison range cannot be filled with sufficient months, the chart is hidden automatically. For example, if your trend chart shows 15 periods, at least 15 months of historical data are required for comparison.

How can I analyze performance by product if the product is not in the Filter Panel?

In the Top & Bottom Analysis report, dimensions can be displayed only in one place at a time, either in the Filter panel or data grid.

In the Metrics Overview and Trend & Projection reports, all dimensions are displayed in the Filter panel. If a dimension is not displayed, it may be not included in the enterprise perspective that determines the list of available dimensions.

Why am I not able to compare current and previous periods in the Waterfall chart?

The Waterfall chart requires sufficient historical data. If the comparison range can not be filled with sufficient months, the chart is hidden automatically. For example, if your trend chart shows 15 periods, at least 15 months of historical data are required for comparison.

Why are some cells in the Trend & Projection report light gray?

Actuals are displayed in the light gray color for periods after the reporting period. That color indicates that actuals are not final yet. The current and past periods' values are displayed in black.

Forecasts are displayed in light gray for periods before the reporting period and in black for periods after the reporting period.
