Checksum calculation on the Group Cash Flow Adjustments report
The checksum calculation is a report calculation in the group currency. The calculation indicates whether the Net increase/decrease in Cash and Cash Equivalents setting in the cash flow statement is explained in total through the balance sheet accounts. The balance sheet accounts are defined to present the cash in group currencies.
This formula shows how the checksum calculation works:
[Cash from the balance sheet YTD of the current period in the group currency] - [Cash from the balance sheet YTD of the last period of the previous year in the group currency] - [Net increase/decrease in Cash and Cash Equivalents]
If the checksum results in 0, then the cash flow statement is explained in total. If the checksum result is different than 0, then the cash flow is not explained through the balance sheet group accounts.
Note: To receive correct results, ensure that you run the Rollover Group Journals function of the previous years before you run the group cash flow process. Ensure also that the entity data is set up correctly. For example, if a group consists of 3 entities (Entity A, Entity B, and Entity C) and the current period is January 2025, then the process must run in this order:
- Prerequisite: The entity cash flow processes for December 2024 have already been run for Entity A, Entity B, and Entity C.
- The Carry Forward Schedules and Rollover Entity Journals functions are run from December 2024 as the source to the target January 2025.
- Entity data is imported to the current period.
- Entity cash flow processes are run for January 2025 for Entity A, Entity B, and Entity C.
- The group cash flow process is run for the group for December 2024.
- The Rollover Group Journals function is run from December 2024 as the source to the target January 2025.
- The group cash flow process is run for January 2025.
The group cash flow process must be run based on the correct entity cash flow data, including rollovers and carry forwards. Otherwise, the group data is based on the incorrect set up and incorrect results are displayed.
Note: The cash flow process is not supported for subgroup consolidation.
