Axes tab

The Axes tab is a tab of the Format Data Series dialog box.

On the Axes tab, you specify whether a data series is plotted on the primary axis, or on a secondary axis.

A chart can contain two sets of data. For example, automotive magazines often contain charts that compare horsepower and torque. In this case, horsepower might be plotted against the primary axis and torque against a secondary axis.

To enable a secondary axis:

  1. Double-click the data series to plot against the secondary axis.
    The Format Data Series dialog box is displayed.
  2. On the Axes tab, select Secondary axis.
    The secondary axis is automatically added and scaled to the selected data. You can format chart axes.

    Alternatively, you can create secondary axes on the Axes tab of the Chart Options dialog box.
