Hyperblocks 1, 2 and 3

Hyperblocks 1, 2 and 3 contain the same formula.

Hyperblock 3 does not display any data in View mode. In Design mode, Hyperblock 3 displays the #REF error.

The formula refers to these dimensions and elements:

  • CHANNEL: All Channels
  • MEASURE: Gross Margin
  • POS: All POS
  • PERIOD: All Years
  • REGION: All Regions
  • VALTYPE: Actual

To see this, open Design mode and click the right-hand cell of each hyperblock. The formula is displayed in the Formula Editor.

All elements except Actual are the default elements of their dimensions.

Hyperblocks 2 and 3 have a value filter to display only values greater than 65000000. For Hyperblock 2, the Data Area is correctly defined. For Hyperblock 3, the Data Area is not defined.

To define the Data Area for Hyperblock 3:

  1. Select Design mode.
  2. Click the border of Hyperblock 3.
  3. Open the Filter pane of the List Designer.
  4. In the Data Area, click Fill.
    The hierarchies of the Product dimension are listed. For each, Current element is selected.
  5. Click Current element for the Valtype hierarchy. A browse button is enabled.
  6. Click the browse button.
    The Select Elements dialog is displayed.
  7. Expand the Variance element.
  8. Double-click the Actual element.
  9. Click OK.
    The Data Area now refers to the same data as the formula.
  10. In the tool bar of the List Designer, click Apply changes to the list.
    Hyperblock 3 displays the same data as Hyperblock 2.
