Use of formulas as filters to hide or display columns and rows
You can use a formula as a filter to control the display of columns and rows. This
technique is intended for use in cases where the various filtering options in slices and
server lists cannot be used.
These are some examples of cases in which use of a formula as a filter is necessary:
- Filtering depends on more than one cube
- Filtering criteria must be calculated on the report, because of the calculation logic
- Filtering depends on cube values and relational queries
Such filters require a formula which returns either True or False. You then reference this formula in the Row Properties or Column Properties dialog boxes.
