Creating a variable slice

To create a variable slice requires an XML variable with a specific structure.

To see the required structure of the XML variable, you can create a standard slice, select it in the Accessories pane, and copy its XML definition from the Advanced section of the Properties pane.

You use the INITSLICERS function to create the XML, and the SETPPROPERTY function to modify the XML.

  1. In Design mode right-click the Slices folder in the Accessories pane and select New Slice.
  2. Select Variable Slice as the type of slice.
  3. Specify a name for the slice and, optionally, a description.
  4. Select the variable that contains the slice definition and click OK.
