Managing data roles with the data roles page

You can manage OLAP data roles outside of the Permissions pane.

The Global Permissions of Data Roles grid shows roles from the DEPM_MOD_DATAROLE table.

Note: Existing roles in the repository are replaced by the roles from the DEPM_MOD_DATAROLE table during publishing.
  1. To add a data role on the data roles page in OLAP Modeling, select a model and click Data Roles in the navigation tree.
  2. In the grid's toolbar, click Add.
A row is added to the top of the grid.
  3. Specify this information in the row:
    Name
Specify a unique name for the role. There is a 50-character limit.

Ensure that the name of each data role is unique within a model and is different from application role names.

    Description
Optionally, specify a description for the role.
  4. Optionally, select the check boxes of the global permissions for the data role.
    These global permissions are available:
    • Administer OLAP
    • Edit Dimensions
    • Edit Rules
    • Import/Export Values
    • View OLAP
    • Write Values
  5. Click Save.

The data role record is created in the DEPM_MOD_DATAROLE table.

  6. After you added and saved all required data roles in the grid, click Publish.
Note: In the grid, you can edit only the description and permissions of a saved role. To delete a role or multiple roles from the grid and related tables and security cubes, select the roles in the grid and click Delete in the grid's contextual toolbar. To apply changes, click Save. Saved changes are available for managing access permissions in cubes. Published changes are available in the repository.
