FAQ

This section answers common questions about the Financial Reporting OLAP database.

How do I add business content?

In Business Modeling, you can extend business content in these ways:

  • Configure additional details in Business Object Configuration, for example, analytical and finance dimensions.
  • Configure additional KPIs.
  • Add custom properties to supported business objects.

Limitations are imposed on custom rules in standard cubes and on adding elements outside Business Modeling.

If you require new content, you can add custom dimensions and custom cubes with rules. A custom cube can combine standard and custom dimensions.

You can add custom cube rules and folders to standard cubes.

How do I add online currency conversion?

You can add currency conversion rules as custom rules to the GLCMAIN cube with a custom folder. Use a separate custom cube for exchange rates.

What if my fiscal year does not start in January?

Select the hierarchy that matches your fiscal calendar’s start month and year type, and set the hierarchy as your entity's property or as the group calendar.

What does IMPORT_P13_FY_02_PY mean?

Import for period 13 in a fiscal year that starts in February of the previous year.

Why can't I change the unit of measure in the C-Suite dashboard ?

By default, the overview uses Total to ensure data consistency across all entities. You can change the unit of measure in detailed dashboards.

What if I don't include the unit of measure in my report?

Data is stored in the N.A. element. No additional unit of measure details are required.

What if I don't select the XPADSYSTEM element?

If you don't select the XPADSYSTEM element, the default element (LOCAL) is assigned.

Can I add or remove elements in the XPADSYSTEM dimension?

The built-in elements are managed by the system and can't be modified.

What if no group accounts are configured?

Only the local account structure is published.

Are custom properties included for all accounts?

Custom properties apply to local accounts only. Group accounts are excluded.

What does the N.A. element represent in business objects?

The N.A. element represents unassigned data.

How are mapped accounts displayed?

Mapped accounts are displayed as child accounts under the relevant group account in the GROUP_STRUCTURE hierarchy.

Why can't I view a specific KPI?

Only KPIs with the Active property that is set to TRUE are displayed. Verify the KPI's status.

How are group accounts identified?

Group accounts are identified by the G_ prefix in the mapping structure.

Where can I find the format string or KPI type?

Format strings and KPI types are published as KPI attributes in the structure.

Can I add custom elements to the XPADCFPROCESSLEVEL dimension?

The built-in elements are fixed and can't be extended.

Are translations required?

No, but they are recommended for multilingual environments.

What if I disable a KPI?

You can no longer select the KPI in reports. If the KPI is a calculated metric or is assigned to an objective for the C-Suite dashboard, its rules remain published.

Can I manually edit the published cube rule?

Manual editing is not supported in EPM Administration. You can modify KPI rules in Business Modeling.

What if my calculation references another KPI?

All references are converted to the required GLCMAIN cube format.

What if a metric or account is missing from the hierarchy?

Ensure that the metric or account is correctly defined and categorized in the source system. Only correctly categorized items are published.

How are calculated metrics managed?

All calculated metrics are published under the Calculated Metrics group with a weight of 0.

Is the Unit of Measure dimension defined as a business object?

Currently, Unit of Measure is not defined as a business object in Business Modeling. However, there are plans to define Unit of Measure as a standard business object with these properties:

  • Is(Financial)AmountType: True or false property that groups unit-of-measure elements in the Unit of Measure hierarchy and filters data in reports.
  • HasUniqueCurrency: True or false property that determines how elements are weighted in the hierarchy.
Those properties control the behavior of unit-of-measure elements in hierarchies, reports, aggregations, and data loads.
