XPADUNITOFMEASURE Unit of Measure
The Unit of Measure (UOM) dimension in Financial Reporting defines how amounts are represented, for example, by currency or other units.
The Unit of Measure dimension supports hierarchies and properties that help filter and interpret financial data in different reporting contexts. Currently, the Unit of Measure dimension is displayed as a flat list because it is defined as a measure dimension in the GLCMAIN cube.
Note: The elements of the Unit of Measure dimension can vary for each ERP system.
Using the Unit of Measure dimension is optional. Although, it cannot be removed from perspectives or reports because it is defined as a measure dimension.
These benefits of the Unit of Measure dimension are available:
- Ensures clarity of the currency or measurement that is used in reports.
- Simplifies report context selection by filtering out irrelevant Unit of Measure options.
- Supports accurate reporting through appropriate selection of the Uni of Measure dimension's elements.
Features and functions
- Unit of Measure in FAB5 Reports:
- The default unit of measure in the XPADUNITOFMEASURE dimension is set to Total .
Note: The Total element is used as the target in cube rules for calculated metrics.
For more information, see Cube rules
The Total and N.A. elements are always published. - Data is stored in the N.A. element if a unit of measure is note used.
- When a unit of measure is used, these options are based on the selected currency: Functional Amount, Reporting Amount or Transactional Amount.
- By default, ratios and percentages are not filtered out.
- The default unit of measure in the XPADUNITOFMEASURE dimension is set to Total .
- Unit of measure in cash flow statements:
- Handled in the same way as in FAB5 reports.
- Some elements, such as Transaction Amount, are not relevant for selection.
- For adjustments, you must select base elements. If you select a currency, you must also select the corresponding unit of measure element.
- If a unit of measure is not specified, you must do the writebacks (data entry) to the N.A. element.
- Calculations must be performed only on the unit of measure elements that are financial amount, for example functional or reporting amount, to create a complete cash flow statement. unit of measure elements like Transaction Amount may not provide a full picture, as different currencies are included and only one currency can be selected.
- Unit of measure in C-Suite (Enterprise_Perspective)
- By default, the unit of measure selection is the Total element for all entities.
- You can select other units of measure in this context, but it can lead to incomplete data display.
- Unit of measure in Ad-hoc Report: Total is the default element.
Note:
Use the default Total unit of measure unless your report requires a specific measurement. For cash flow adjustments, always check whether a base element or a currency-specific unit of measure is needed.
Currently, Unit of Measure is not defined as a specific business object in Business Modeling. Instead, a custom business object is used to publish the elements to the Unit of Measure dimension.
