Creating a recurring journal

Note: The journals on the Recurring Journal List page are only journal patterns that have been saved to the database. They are not yet posted.
  1. Create a journal or edit an existing journal and save it with the Create Recurring Journal option.
  2. Specify the start and end periods for the journal recurrence.
  3. If you set the end period to a period different than period 12 of the end period's year, keep the Extend journal posting through year-end option enabled. If enabled, this option ensures that the end period's amount is copied to the remaining months of the end period's year and posted through year end.
Caution: Disabling the Extend journal posting through year-end option limits posting of the recurring journal to the specified end period, resulting in non-compliance with annual reporting and audit requirements.
  4. Click Save.
The journal is displayed on the Recurring Journal List page. The values in the Context panel are the same as the values you have specified on the Journal Editor page.

If the Extend journal posting through year-end option is enabled in step 3, the Effective End Period column shows period 12 of the end period's year. If disabled, the column shows the end period that you specified in step 2.
