Selecting subsets

You can use subsets in an ad-hoc report to focus on specific data within a hierarchy. Subsets are predefined groups of elements created in the OLAP database.

  1. In the Ad-hoc Report create a new report.
  2. In the Ad-Hoc Report dialog box, select these options
    • Data connection
    • Cube
  3. Select a hierarchy under the row or column.
  4. Click the Elements tab.
  5. In the Global Selections menu, select Subsets, and select the required subset from the list.
  6. Click Update report.
    Note:

If there are no subsets available in the selected hierarchy, the subset menu is disabled.

If a subset that is defined in the report definition does not exist in the OLAP database, you must remove the invalid subset manually from the Selections section of the hierarchy and update the report.

Subsets are supported only in axes.

If a subset contains elements that belong to multiple parent elements, those elements can appear more than once. The OLAP database includes a setting that ensures each element is displayed only once.
