Showing panes

Key objects and components are displayed in multiple panes. Panes dock on the left and right sides of the screen.

The Application Explorer and List Designer sections are displayed on the left and right sides of the screen, respectively. Each section contains additional panes.

Use options in the View menu or buttons in the standard toolbar to show or hide left and right-docked panes.

Properties pane

The Properties pane shows the properties of items that you select in the Database Structure or Accessories panes in the Application Explorer section.

To open the Properties pane, select View > Properties or press F4.

To sort properties alphabetically or by category, click Alphabetical or Categorized, respectively.

Data connection properties

This table shows data connection properties:

Property Description
Application Name If applicable, the name of the application to which the connection belongs.
Application Vendor If applicable, the name of the vendor of the application to which the connection belongs.
Application Version If applicable, the version of the application to which the connection belongs.
Connected Shows True if you are signed in to the connection or False if you are signed out.
Content State Indicates whether the connection forms part of an application's content.
Description The description of the data connection if a description has been provided.
Name The name of the data connection. Used in lists and formulas.
Protected Content Shows True if the connection is protected from editing.
Provider type The type of the data connection, such as Relational Provider or OLAP.

Calculation properties

This table shows calculation properties:

Property Description
Parent The unique name of the parent to which the calculation belongs.
Format String The format of the cell value.
Visible Specifies whether the calculated element is displayed on the spreadsheet. If the value is set to 0, the calculated element is not displayed.
MDX Definition The MDX definition of the calculated element.
XML Definition The XML definition of the calculation.
Expression The expression that defines the calculated element.
