Creating and editing data roles

Note: For OLAP databases managed by OLAP Modeling: OLAP Modeling acts as the system of records. Data roles not known by OLAP Modeling are cleared from the repository with the next publishing. Use the “Data Roles” page in OLAP Modeling to add, edit, and delete data roles.
  1. Select Dashboards > User and Permission Management > Manage Roles or Dashboards > User and Permission Management > Users, Groups and Roles.
  2. Select the application in which to create or edit data roles.
  3. In the OLAP Data Roles widget, click the Create icon.
  4. Specify the name of the role and, optionally, a description.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click the Edit icon in the OLAP Permissions widget.
  7. Select the check boxes of the permissions to assign to the role.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Optionally, click the Synchronize roles to OLAP icon.
To avoid unnecessary rebuilds of the security access cubes in the OLAP database, new and changed roles are not automatically synchronized with the database. The Synchronize roles to OLAP icon is colored yellow if there are unsynchronized changes.
