Overview of OLAP modeling tools
This table shows the tools available for modeling an OLAP database:
| Tool name | Description |
|---|---|
| Edit Database Dashboard | Use Edit Database Dashboard to edit the OLAP database directly.
This tool doesn't require additional layers, such as OLAP Object Definition tables. For more information, see Using the Edit Database dashboard for direct OLAP editing. |
| OLAP Modeling | Use OLAP Modeling to create, define, and maintain custom OLAP models.
We recommend using this tool when you need complete control over the model structure and metadata. For more information, see OLAP Modeling. |
| Business Modeling |
Use Business Modeling to define and manage the structures of the Infor EPM business applications. Business objects, such as accounts, are the building blocks to manage those structures. For more information, see Business Modeling. |
| Application Engine | Use Application Engine to create and run business processes that are integrated in the Infor EPM applications for financial and other applications.
Processes can be delivered as standard functions within the Infor EPM applications through the product setups. You can modify or replace those processes for all projects to meet individual customer requirements. You can write processes to model OLAP cubes and dimensions, for example, Application Engine processes to create elements in existing hierarchies. For more information, see Application Engine. |
| Third party tools |
ImportMaster.
Caution: Don't use ImportMaster for standard cubes and dimensions.
The databases of some standard applications can be created and filled with these external tools:
Typically, in these cases, no database editing is performed. |
