Financial Consolidation application roles

Application roles control page visibility, data access, and permitted actions. Standard roles provide permissions for specific tasks and reports. User and group assignments to application roles are managed in EPM Administration.

These standard application roles are provided with Financial Consolidation:

  • Consolidation Modeler
  • Entity Accountant
  • Group Accountant
  • Consolidation Auditor
  • Consolidation Read Only
  • Group Accountant Custom
  • Consolidation Read Only Custom

Users are assigned to roles in EPM Administration. Users can be assigned to multiple roles.

Adding new application roles isn't supported.

Consolidation Modeler

Members of the Consolidation Modeler role can set up, configure, and manage business models. Users have access to all Business Modeling functions. For example, importing, adding, and editing business objects, such as entities or groups. Users must have knowledge of their business structures to configure the Financial Consolidation module and to publish data models.

Note: Typically, users with the Consolidation Modeler role also have the Group Accountant role.

Entity Accountant

Members of the Entity Accountant role can view and edit the entities for which they have permissions. They cannot view and edit groups. Users have access only to an entity-related menu and page options in Financial Consolidation. Entity accountants have access to the Entity Status tab on the Status Monitor tab of the Landing Page where they can change the status of the entity process steps from Open to Submitted.

These actions are performed by an entity accountant:

  • Configuring entity parameters, entity currency, and intercompany profit margins
  • Importing and entering financial data, and transferring entity data by running carry forward and rollover processes
  • Creating and importing entity journals
  • Maintaining historical exchange rates and having read-only rights to standard exchange rates
  • Managing intercompany reconciliation processes
  • Running entity cash flow processes
  • Checking entity cash flow and entity financial reports

Group Accountant

Members of the Group Accountant role can view and edit all groups and entities of their businesses. Users have access to the entity and group-related menu and page options in Financial Consolidation and can change the statuses of the entity and group process steps on the Status Monitor tab. Group accountants can perform the same actions as an entity accountant. Additionally, group accountants can perform these actions:

  • Configuring group parameters, group currency, ownership management, and global signs
  • Transferring group data by running rollover processes
  • Creating and importing group journals
  • Maintaining standard exchange rates
  • Configuring and running consolidation processes
  • Configuring cash flow parameters and running group cash flow processes
  • Checking group cash flow and group financial reports
Note: To restrict permissions of a group accountant to only specific groups, subgroups, entities, and segments, you can create individual group accountant custom roles.

Consolidation Auditor

Members of the Consolidation Auditor role can view all entity and group-related pages in read-only mode. They cannot perform any actions in Financial Consolidation. This is a role for external auditors.

Consolidation Read Only

Members of the Consolidation Read Only role can view all entity and group-related pages in read-only mode. They cannot perform any actions in Financial Consolidation. This is an internal role, such as CEO or CFO.
