Creating custom tabs with custom reports

Custom tabs extend a standard workbook with additional reports tailored that match organization’s requirements. Custom tabs are displayed in the workbook navigation next to the default tabs such as Overview and Data Entry. Each custom tab shows a custom report.

Custom tabs are supported in both Budget and Forecast financial planning steps.

The custom report assigned to a tab must use the standard workbook tab template. This requirement ensures correct navigation and consistent parameter communication between tabs. If you create a report without the template, switching between the custom and default tabs fails.

When you switch tabs, the workbook passes context (such as entity, version, and cycle) between reports through template parameters.

Tip: If tab switching doesn't work after you add a custom tab, verify that the report was created from the standard template and that all required template parameters are preserved.

These are the prerequisites for creating custom tabs:

  • Access to Business Applications
  • A custom application where the report will be created
  • A standard workbook tab report template
  1. Start Infor EPM business applications and locate the standard workbook tab report template.
Note: The standard template contains mandatory parameters required for proper communication between workbook tabs, for example tab navigation parameters. Without these parameters, switching between the custom tab and default tabs doesn't work correctly.
  2. Go to Application Studio
  3. Select Application Explorer > Infor EPM > Reports > Infor EPM > Global Modules > General Functions > Workbook Tab Template and export the template.
  4. Open the custom application and click the Home icon.
  5. Select Business Configuration > Configuration Set-specific Settings > Workbook Wizard.
  6. Open the workbook to which you want to add a tab.
  7. Click the Wrench icon to the right-hand side of the tabs to open the Tabs Configuration dialog box.
  8. Click Add tab.
  9. Enter a name in the Tab Name column and then click Select Item in the Report column to open the Report Assignment dialog box.
  10. Add a custom report to a workbook and customize it.
Modify the report content, for example layout, data sources, and calculations, as required, ensuring that all mandatory template parameters are preserved.
Tip: Importing the exported template ensures that your custom report inherits all the required parameters for workbook tab integration.
