Drag and drop in filtering area

The filtering area supports drag and drop actions for dimension management. You can add, reorder, or exchange dimensions, while dimension selections, attributes, and display settings remain preserved according to the destination and drag and drop action.

Dimension headers

Dimension headers support drag and drop actions.

The drag handle appears when the pointer moves over a dimension label.

The dimension label is draggable.

The Lookup field is not draggable.

Drop locations

You can drop dimensions in the filtering area.

Drop a dimension before, between, or after dimension headers to add the dimension to the filtering area or to change the dimension order.

A black insertion line indicates the target position in the dimension list.

Drop a dimension on a dimension header to exchange dimensions between the filtering area and an axis.

The target dimension is highlighted when an exchange operation is available.

Dimensions can be dropped when the filtering area is collapsed.

The collapsed filtering area is highlighted to indicate that the dimension is added to the filtering area.

Configuration rules

Dimension settings determine how a dimension is transferred.

You can change the order of dimensions in the filtering area by using drag and drop actions. The dimension configuration remains unchanged.

When the dimension uses the default element selection, default element is selected in axis after the dimension moves to a row axis or column axis.

When the dimension uses a custom selection, the custom selection is preserved after the dimension moves to a row axis or column axis.

When an attribute is the primary display type, the attribute remains the primary display type after the dimension moves to a row axis or column axis.

When multiple attributes are selected in the filtering area, all selected attributes are transferred and displayed in secondary rows or columns.
