Drag and drop in rows and columns axis
Dimension labels
Dimension labels support drag and drop actions.
For row axes, the drag handle appears when the pointer moves over a dimension label.
The dimension label is draggable.
Element cells
Element cells support drag and drop actions.
The drag handle appears when the pointer moves over a dimension element.
The dimension element is draggable.
Drop locations
You can drop dimensions in several locations in the data grid.
Drop a dimension before, between, or after dimension headers to add a dimension or to change the dimension order.
A dimension cannot be dropped between an attribute and the parent dimension that controls the attribute.
Drop a dimension on a row-axis dimension label to exchange dimensions.
Drop a dimension on an element of another dimension to exchange dimensions and to update the selection in the transferred dimension.
Configuration rules
Configuration behavior depends on the dragged object.
When you drag a dimension label:
- Moving the dimension to the opposite axis preserves the complete dimension configuration.
- Moving the dimension to the filtering area selects first visible elements to keep data context.
When you drag an element caption:
- Moving the dimension to the opposite axis preserves the complete dimension configuration.
- Moving the dimension to the filtering area selects the dragged element in the hierarchy.
When dimensions use attributes:
- When an attribute is the primary display type, the attribute remains the primary display type after the dimension moves.
- When multiple attributes are selected, all selected attributes are transferred with the dimension and are displayed in secondary rows, secondary columns, or the filtering area.
