OLAP metadata hierarchy

This custom hierarchy contains information about any OLAP, ODBO, and AS data connections that you are logged-on to. The root element of the hierarchy is the repository. You use this information in lists and display it on the worksheet in hyperblocks, list boxes, combo boxes, and option boxes.

You cannot delete the OLAP metadata hierarchy.

For example, you might use the OLAP metadata hierarchy to create a list of slice dimensions in a dynamic report.

Or, you could use the hierarchy to select different views of the data within a report.

Report books in the metadata hierarchy

The report metadata hierarchy includes the Report Books folder. The Report Books folder is at the same level as Reports, Report Templates, and Style Sheets folders.

Each report book entry includes the following attributes:

  • Display name
  • Unique name
  • Description
  • Folder path

You can pass the unique name directly to the Book Printing API or to an Application Engine process that triggers printing.

You can bind report book metadata to list objects, such as combo boxes and hyperblocks. Users can select a report book and print the selected report.

You can view the Report Books folder at all times. The folder updates automatically when you add or remove report books. Restart is not required.
