On the Permissions pane, you can add, edit, and delete data roles without having to jump to other areas of the system. Scripting and technical knowledge is not required.
- Select .
- Select the model and object that has the Permissions pane enabled.
Note: Currently, you select a hierarchy on a dimension that has the dimension access control (DAC) enabled.
- Click the Elements tab.
- In the grid, select the check box of an element and click Permissions.
On the
Permissions pane, all data roles from the DEPM_MOD_DATAROLE object definition table are listed.
Note: The Permissions button is not available unless the dimension has a DAC assigned to it.
- On the Permissions pane, perform these actions as required:
- Click Add.
- Click the Actions icon in the Actions column for a specific data role and select .
- Click the Actions icon in the Actions column for a specific data role and select . Confirm the deletion when prompted.
- If you add or edit a data role, perform these steps:
- Specify or update this information respectively:

Specify the data role name.
We recommend that you do not create data roles with the same name as application roles. This is because OLAP access rights that are defined for data roles affect access rights for application roles.
Note: After a data role name has been saved, it cannot be edited.

Optionally, specify the description for the data role.

OLAP Permissions

Optionally, select one or more of the available OLAP permissions for the data role.
- To confirm the new or updated data role information, click Save.
The data role record is created in the DEPM_MOD_DATAROLE table.
- Click Publish.
