Key features of the Trend & Projection report

This section describes key features of the Trend & Projection report.

Analyze By

This function replaces the current dimension in the data grid with another dimension from the Filter panel.

You can select only one dimension at a time. After you select a dimension, it is displayed in the data grid and the Filter panel, and you can filter by a specific element for your report.
Note: In the Filter panel, a blue icon indicates which dimension is currently being analyzed.

This is an example of a scenario when you analyze the Operating Profit Margin KPI for the Enhance Efficiency and Profitability objective:

  1. By default, the report shows the Operating Profit Margin KPI across all entities with the chart and data grid reflecting the aggregated trend.
  2. Click the Analyze By function to switch the view to a business unit.
  3. The report is updated to show the KPI broken down by a business unit.
  4. In the filter, select the Finance business unit to narrow your scope.
  5. The data grid and chart area reflect the monthly performance of the Finance business unit and show the actuals, budget, forecast, and variances for each period.
  6. Assess how this specific unit contributes to the overall trend and whether the trend is on track against the targets.

Scaling and Decimals

The scaling and decimal settings in the Trend & Projection report help present financial data clearly and consistently. Those settings are inherited from the C-Suite dashboard's selected metrics. You can adjust the settings within the report for deeper analysis. For example, if you select the Operating Profit metrics scaled in millions (M) in the metrics table, then all values in the Trend & Projection report are displayed in millions, regardless of their actual magnitude. You can override those settings in the report.

These pre-defined options are available:

  • No Scaling
  • 1,000 Scaling
  • 1,000,000 Scaling
  • 1,000,000,000 Scaling

By default, values are displayed with one decimal place based on the standard rounding, but you can configure up to 8 decimal places in the report.
