Enterprise perspective

The Enterprise perspective defines which business objects are accessible to the C-Suite for analysis.

Automatic Enterprise perspective

The Enterprise perspective is published automatically from Financial Reporting to OLAP with the Enterprise_Perspective ID and the Enterprise Perspective caption.

In OLAP, the perspective is defined on GLCMAIN cube with this dimension configuration:

Dimension Dimension configuration Replacement element
XPADCONFIGSET None
XPADVERSION None
XPADSYSTEM Exclude LOCAL
XPADTIME Change the default hierarchy to the hierarchy corresponding to Enterprise Calendar.
XPADLEVEL Change the default hierarchy to the hierarchy corresponding to Enterprise Calendar.
GLDGROUP Exclude N.A.
GLDENTITY None (default element stays TOTAL_ENTITY)
GLDINTERCOMPANY Exclude N.A.
GLDACCOUNT Change the default element to DECISION_TREE.
GLDDETAIL Exclude TOTAL_DETAIL in case Schedules are present, N.A. otherwise
XPADCURRENCY Change the default element to the currency corresponding to Enterprise Currency.
XPADDECISIONPACKAGE Exclude N.A.
GLDPROJECT see below
XPADSTRATEGY Exclude N.A.

GLDINTERSEGMENT01 Exclude N.A.
GLDINTERSEGMENT02 Exclude N.A.
GLDINTERSEGMENT03 Exclude N.A.
XPADUNITOFMEASURE none

For the dimensions populated by custom business objects (XPADPROJECT and GLDBUSINESSOBJECTXX), the correct assignment is calculated. It is either Exclude with TOTAL as a replacement element or none (keeping the TOTAL as default element).

Custom Enterprise perspective

You can manually create a custom perspective with the Enterprise_Perspective name in Relational Modeling. If such a perspective is set up in Relational Modeling, it replaces the automatic Enterprise_Perspective which is published from Financial Reporting.

Custom perspective allows you to have greater control over which business objects appear on the C-Suite. It gives you the flexibility to exclude specific objects that would otherwise be included by default in the automatically published perspective.

To manually create a custom perspective, you must use these tables in Relational Modeling:

  • Perspective for the definition of the Enterprise Perspective. Perspective ID must equal Enterprise_Perspective.
  • Perspective Business Object: for mapping of business objects to the perspective.

The Perspective Entity Mapping table is not in use for Enterprise Perspective.

The Enterprise perspective impact on the C-Suite

  • When you use the Analyze by or Expand To functions in the C-Suite or reports only the dimensions defined in the Enterprise perspective are visible.
  • The Filter panel in detailed report inherits the business objects from the Enterprise perspective.
  • The default values, for example Total or All Entities ensure consistent and meaningful data aggregation.
  • The Group Fiscal Calendar aligns time-based comparisons, for example year-to-date or monthly trends, across entities with different fiscal year definitions.
  • Entity, Currency, and Unit of Measure dimensions are fixed and derived from the All Entities node and its relationships.
