Metrics Table widget

The Metrics Table widget provides a structured, interactive view of KPIs, KVIs, and supporting drivers that are mapped to a selected objective.

The Metrics Table widget is the central place to monitor performance and explore metric hierarchies.

The list of available strategies, assigned objectives, and the objectives' corresponding assignments to KVIs, KPIs, and drivers is defined in Business Modeling.

Data rules

These data rules are available:

  • The data grid always shows one dimension.
  • The default sorting of metrics is based on the decision tree hierarchy in OLAP.
  • The Calculation of Difference is based on this formula: Reporting PeriodComparison Period.
  • Calculation of % Difference is based on this formula: (Reporting – Comparison) / ABS(Comparison)*100.
Note: The % Difference field can include minor rounding variances because the calculation is based on OLAP data rather than scaled data.
  • For percentage metrics, the difference is not available.
  • The Difference and % Difference columns are color-coded.

Best practices

We recommend that you apply these best practices:

  • Set the Strategy & Objective to filter the metrics table by strategic focus and ensure you analyze the most relevant KPIs.
  • Click a metric row to highlight it and drive the content of the Trend & Projection and Top & Bottom Analysis widgets.
  • Use the View switch to switch between periodical and YTD views. This affects how values and comparisons are calculated.
  • Expand metric hierarchies to explore supporting KPIs and drivers that contribute to the leading KVI.
  • Use color cues to assess performance trends and differences.
  • Jump to the Metrics Overview report for a detailed breakdown and historical comparison of the selected metric.
