Application Context

C-Suite and Financial Reporting rely on the context to filter and show relevant financial data. However, they use different context mechanisms tailored to their specific purposes.

Access points for the Context Definition

These access points for the Context Definition exist:

  • Application Context widget in C-Suite is a dedicated widget, which users can access through the Configuration icon.
  • Application Context widget in the C-Suite reports is a dialog box for the Application Context. You can access this widget through the Globe icon.

Context parameters

This table shows the Application Context parameters.

Context field Description
Configuration Set A predefined group of settings that determine how data is structured and displayed. It is inherited from the General Ledger (GL) and hidden. You cannot edit this parameter.
Reporting Period This field is required.

The month for which to view data.

By default, this field is set to the previous month. For example, if today is July 5, 2025, the Reporting Period field is, by default, set to June 2025.

The list of available periods is based on the Calendar Definition in Financial Reporting.

Comparison Period This field is required.

The month that is used to compare against the reporting period.

By default, this field is the month before the reporting period. For example, if today is July 5, 2025, the Comparison Period field is set to May 2025.

Reporting Version This field is required.

The version of data that is being analyzed, typically actuals.

Comparison Version This field is optional.

The version that is used for comparison, typically budget. Currently, this field is used only in the Trend & Projection widget.

Forecast Version This field is optional.

The version that includes projected data for future periods. Currently, this field is used only in the Trend & Projection widget.
