Interactions in an ad-hoc data grid
Contextual toolbar and menu actions modify the report definition. Contextual toolbar and contextual menu have the same purpose and offer the same set of contextual actions. The availability of these actions depends on what context is selected in the data grid.
Contextual toolbar
To open the contextual toolbar, left-click a data grid cell to select it. To multi-select, press Ctrl and left-click multiple cells.
Contextual menu in the data grid
To open the contextual menu, right-click a cell in the data grid. The contextual menu actions are displayed next to the selected report object.
When you right-click selected cells, the cells stay selected, and the contextual menu is displayed.
When you select multiple report objects and right-click one of them, all selections become the context for the actions in the menu.
When you right-click outside selected cells, the selection is changed, and the contextual menu is displayed.
Contextual actions
You can perform these actions based on selected context in the data grid:
- Keep selection. Keep only selected elements in the report definition.
- Collapse multiple elements at once.
- Expand multiple elements at once.
- Zoom in. Drill down to details of the selected element. The report shows children of selected elements.
- Zoom out. Show the whole level above the selected element.
- Format. Create and manage formats and styles.
- Select. Create a selection of elements.
- Move the hierarchy to the row axis, column axis, or filters section. This action is available only if there is more than one dimension in the axis.
Not all actions are available for all variants of the selected context. The set of available actions varies depending on the intersection of the selected context.
