Adding calculations

  1. In the Ad-Hoc Report dialog box, select these options:
    • Data connection
    • Cube
    • Columns
    • Rows
  2. Select a hierarchy under a row or column.
  3. Click the three-dot icon in the element or global toolbar and select Add Calculation.
  4. In the Add Calculation dialog box, specify this information:
    Calculation Name
A unique name of the calculation element. The calculation name is case insensitive. You cannot create elements with the same calculation name under the same parent element. This field supports maximum 71 characters. Excess spaces at the beginning, middle, and end of the calculation name are automatically removed. These special characters are reserved in Infor OLAP and Microsoft Analysis for OLAP: [ ] . , ; ' ` : / \ * | ? " & % $ ! + = () [] {} < >
    Dimension/Hierarchy
Select the dimension from the cube in which the calculated element will be placed.
    Parent Element
Select the parent element. You cannot select base elements, elements from flat dimensions, and calculated elements as parent elements. If you do not select a parent element, the calculated element is created at the first level.

Base elements, elements from flat dimensions, and calculated elements cannot be used as parent elements. If Add Calculation is started from the global selection and the hierarchy is a flat dimension, the parent element is automatically set to No Parent. If Add Calculation is started from an element selection within a non-flat hierarchy, the selected element becomes the parent. If no parent element is specified, the calculated element is created at the top, first, level of the hierarchy.

    Number Format
A non-mandatory text field. Optionally, specify the format in which calculated elements are displayed. Only language-neutral format (American English) is dynamically formatted according to regional settings. If you specify a local number format, the report adapts the spacing, commas, and any other units specified in the number format. If you specify no number format, the number format from the selected measure is applied.
    Solve Order
Specify which calculation takes precedence when multiple calculations are combined in a cell. The supported range of values is from - 8181 to 65535. The default value is 0.
    Formula Editor
A mandatory text field. Specify a formula to create the calculated element. The element is inserted at the cursor’s position, and the cursor moves to its end. If an element is highlighted in the formula editor, selecting from the Object Browser field replaces it. When you click Add the formula is validated for failure.
    Object Browser
Select an element to use in the formula editor.

Use this field to insert elements into a formula. Make sure the cursor is placed in the formula editor before double-clicking an element. The selected element is inserted at the cursor’s current position.

You can switch the Dimension/Hierarchy within the Object Browser field to include elements from a different dimension or hierarchy in the formula. This change affects only the Object Browser and does not modify the Dimension/Hierarchy item list from the Configuration Settings pane of the Add Calculation dialog box.

  5. Click Add.

The calculation element is indicated with the calculator icon.

If parent element is defined in the Parent Element field, the calculation element is last element of its siblings under the parent element. If parent element is not defined, the calculation element is the last element in root level.

You can apply all configurations to the calculation elements, including sorting and filtering.
