Defining configuration sets

You define configuration sets in the Create New Configuration set wizard. The wizard has three tabs on which to define the configuration set. Further tab is added if your configuration set includes organizations.

After you define a configuration set you perform these tasks:

  • Mark the configuration set's version as Configuration Complete. You cannot create planning steps unless you do this.
  • After you mark a version as Configuration Complete, you cannot change an entity’s assigned currency. To change the currency you must copy existing configuration set. The new configuration set has a version that is not completed.
  • Activate segment elements through Business Configuration > Configuration Set-specific Settings > Segment Configuration. You can also access the Segment Configuration page by clicking the Segments link in the version details on the Configuration Set Definition page.
  • Create planning steps for the configuration set.
  • Start the configuration set.
  1. Click the Home icon.
  2. Select Business Configuration > Configuration Set-specific Settings > Configuration Set Definition.
  3. Click New Configuration set.
  4. Specify this information:
    Configuration set Name
Specify a name for the configuration set.
The name is stored in the translation fields of the language in which the user is signed in. It can be translated as required in Administration.
Click the Home icon and select Application Configuration > General Settings > Translate Labels.
    Budget Version Name
Specify the name of the version in which to store the data that will be submitted for approval.
When you create a configuration set, the version type is always a budget. When you have created a configuration set, you can create, for example, a fiscal forecast version from a budget version.
  5. Select the check boxes to specify whether the version includes organizations, intercompany relations, segments, or schedules.
  6. Click Next.
    1. Select the year in which the configuration set starts.
    2. Select the number of years in the configuration set.
The maximum configuration set length is 60 years.
    3. To specify the time level at which to plan for each year, click Year and select Year, Quarter, or Month.
For example, you might plan on monthly values in the first year, quarterly values in the second, and yearly values in subsequent years.
  7. Click Next and assign currencies to entities. Click Not Set in the Currency column and select a currency for the entity.
  8. If the configuration set includes organizations, click Next.
By default, all organizations are active in the configuration set.
The use of organizations is required for Workforce Budgeting.
Note: To create new positions through decision packages and to request their approval and include their costs directly into the main finance budget, activate Analysis 06 dimension.
  9. Select the entity.
To deactivate or activate all organizations, select or clear the check box of the top-level organization.
To search for an organization, specify its name and press Enter.
  10. Click Finish.
The configuration set is added to the Configuration set Overview.
