Managing the properties of a dimension
- Select Dashboards > Data Integrations > OLAP Modeling.
- Select the model and dimension.
-
On the Properties tab, edit any of
these properties:
- Default caption or language-specific captions. To edit language-specific captions, click the icon above the Default Caption field.
- Default description or language-specific descriptions. To edit language-specific descriptions, click the icon above the Default Description field.
- Default hierarchy
If a dimension contains multiple hierarchies, we recommend that you select one hierarchy as the default. This helps to control which hierarchy is used, for example, in an ad-hoc analysis or import processes for which no hierarchy has been specified.
- Dimension type
The dimension type is used only to categorize dimensions.
- Enable or disable dimension access control. If you enable dimension access control, you
must select the source table with the Permissions values or click
Create New Table and a
table is created by the system.
A data table for element security must have these columns:
- ID
- RoleName
- Value
The HierarchyName column is optional, but recommended to support the full functionality.
The selected or created table is a single point of truth for permissions. Any permissions that you add directly to the DAC cube are lost. This is because the cube is purged before values from the element security table are published.
The DAC cube with the
#<DimName>
name is created by the publishing process.
- Click Save.
