Managing the properties of a cube

  1. Select Dashboards > Data Integrations > OLAP Modeling.
  2. Select the model and cube.
  3. On the Properties tab, edit any of these properties:
    • Default caption or language-specific captions. To edit language-specific captions, click the icon above the Default Caption field.
    • Default description or language-specific descriptions. To edit language-specific descriptions, click the icon above the Default Description field.
    • Measure dimension

Select the measure dimension. We recommend that you select the measure dimension to benefit from the number formatting options. See "Number formats".

    • Format dimension

      Select the format dimension.

    • Cache partition dimension

      Select the cache partition dimension.

    • Enable or disable the cube access control. If enabled, the permissions that are defined in the Table Access Control Cube (#_TABACC) are activated.
    • Enable the transaction log. If enabled, all changes to the cube are logged except for the cell note changes. You can use the log for recovery purposes, for example.
    • Enable multidimensional access control. If enabled, the permissions that are defined in the Multidimensional Access Control Cube (#_MDAC) are activated.

If you enable multidimensional access control, you must select the source table with the Permission values or click Create New and a table is created by the system. After you click Create New, perform these steps:

      1. In the Create Multidimensional Access Control Cube dialog box, specify the name of the table and, optionally, a description.
      2. Click Next.
      3. In the Available Dimensions section, select the required dimensions and click the arrow icon to move them to the Selected Dimensions section. To select multiple dimensions, either press SHIFT on your keyboard and then select multiple adjacent dimensions, or press CTRL and select multiple dimensions.
Note: The list of available dimensions is limited to the dimensions of the cube for which the MDAC cube is used.
      4. Click Finish.

The selected or created table is a single point of truth for permissions. Any permissions that you add directly to the MDAC cube are lost. This is because the cube is purged before values from this table are published.

The MDAC cube with the #<CubeName> name is created by the publishing process. Additional MDAC cubes are created with the _<n> suffix, where n is a number.

  4. Click Save.
