Exporting an OLAP database

You can export an OLAP database that is running or which is stopped.

There are no limits on the size of an exported file.

  1. Select a dashboard that contains the Databases widget. For example, select Dashboards > OLAP > Databases.
  2. In the Databases widget, select the database to export.
  3. Select Export > Export Database .
  4. Optionally, select Save database before starting the export.

The OLAP is saved to disk at intervals. The export function exports the most recently saved version. When you export an OLAP database, you have the option to save the database first. The database is not accessible during saving.

  5. Click Export.
  6. Choose one of these options:
    Option Description
Export the complete database, including subsets (.sst, .sst.xml) and database properties (db_properties.xml) Exports the entire database, including its metadata, which is held in db_properties.xml.
Export selected cubes and dimensions On the Cubes and Dimensions tabs, select the cubes and dimensions to export. By default, all cubes and dimensions are selected. Clear the Name check box to clear the selection.

It is possible to export inconsistent files by, for example, exporting a cube without the dimensions that are used by it. It is the responsibility of the administrator performing an import to ensure the consistency of the data model after the import.

  7. Click Export.
