Calculating legal and management group ownership

You can calculate group ownership for legal and management groups. The calculation process for legal groups is separate from the calculation process for management groups.

Note: To calculate group ownership for multiple versions, periods, and groups simultaneously, and to include subgroups of the selected groups in the calculation, see "Running or canceling consolidation processes".

For legal groups, select Parameterization > Group Parameterization > Legal Ownership > Legal Group Ownership. For management groups, select Parameterization > Group Parameterization > Management Ownership > Management Group Ownership.
Specify the context.
The Parent Entity field is populated based on the specified group.

Note: In the list of available groups to select, both legal and management groups are displayed. If you select a management group for the legal ownership calculation, then all options are not available and you cannot make any changes. You must select Management Group Ownership to proceed. The same behavior applies if you select a legal group for the management ownership calculation.
Ignore this step if you selected a legal group in the context. If you selected a management group in the context and if required, you can add entity-intercompany relationships to the management group structure.

On the Table tab, click Calculate Ownership.
The results of the group effective ownership are displayed.

Note: The values in the Owned Sum and Controlled Sum columns may differ from the values in the Owns and Controls columns. This is because intercompanies may be partially owned and controlled by the entities other than the parent entity.
Optionally, in the Consolidation Method column, you can change the consolidation method for each row.
Consolidation methods that are displayed in the column depend on the percentage of control over an entity. The ranges of control percentage for each method are defined in Business Modeling. You can select one of these methods:
- At equity: 20% - 49.9% of control. Not recognized in the transfer to the group but you must make all adjustments on the investment account.
- Full: 50.1% - 100% of control. The full balance sheet and profit and loss are transferred to the group.
- None: Less than 20% of control. Not recognized in the transfer to the group.
- Proportional: 50% of control. The balance sheet and profit and loss values are transferred to the group in proportion to the ownership percentages.
Note: To change a consolidation method, the context status must be open. A changed consolidation method is marked to make the change visible.
