Segments
A legal entity can belong to a specific division or profit center. Divisions and profit centers are represented as segments.
You can assign a division or profit center to an entity by adding a parent element to the entity during creation of the Entities business object. This is possible only if the structure is static. That is, if entities are not moved between different divisions or profit centers. The division or profit center must also own 100% of the entity.
Because the structure of groups is usually dynamic, divisions or profit centers cannot be maintained in the Entities business object. Instead, they must be maintained in one of the Segments business objects. In this way, each entity can be related to any division or profit center. If an entity is related to one division or profit center, then you can use the context-dependent entity parameters in Financial Consolidation to assign the default division or profit center to the entity.
You can add, upload, or import segments.
The Segments business object typically has a hierarchy but you cannot assign a segment to multiple parents.
In the Segments business object, you maintain these properties:
- ID
- Name
- Parent
- Used languages
