Recurring journals
Posted recurring journals show YTD amounts. After posting a recurring journal, separate journals are created for each period from the recurring journal and show YTD amounts, which increase periodically. The YTD amount in the last period from the recurring journal's selected period range equals the total amount of the recurring journal.
Recurring journals that are displayed on the Recurring Journal List page are only journal patterns that have been saved to the database. They are not yet posted.
Posted recurring journals are displayed on the Journal List page with the Posted status. The generated recurring journal IDs are displayed in the Description column.
Example of the YTD approach for posted recurring journals
A recurring journal is created for the period from October 2020 to December 2020 for the total amount of 300 between RU0001 (Genesis Cars) and RU0002 (Genesis Finance). After posting the journal, the YTD amounts are displayed for each posted period in a separate journal ID. That is, 100 for October 2020, 200 for November 2020, and 300 for December 2020.
These tables show separate journals IDs with the YTD amounts for each posted period from the recurring journal of the total amount of 300:
